Dr. Salla has held academic appointments in the School of International Service, American University, Washington DC (1996-2001), and the Department of Political Science, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia (1994-96). Dr Salla taught as an adjunct faculty member in the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, Washington D.C., in 2002; and is currently a Researcher in Residence in the Center for Global Peace, American University (2001-2004). He has a PhD in Government from the University of Queensland, Australia, and an MA in Philosophy from the University of Melbourne, Australia.He has conducted research and fieldwork in the ethnic conflicts in East Timor, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Sri Lanka, and organized peacemaking initiatives involving mid to high level participants from these conflicts.

Tom received his Ph.D. degree in Astronomy, specializing in celestial mechanics, from Yale University in 1969. He spent 20 years at the U.S. Naval Observatory, where he became the Chief of the Celestial Mechanics Branch. In 1991, Tom formed a Washington, DC-based organization, Meta Research, to foster research into ideas not otherwise supported solely because they conflict with mainstream theories in Astronomy. Tom is editor of the Meta Research Bulletin, which specializes in reporting anomalies and evidence that does not fit with standard theories in the field.  During the past few years, he has also been a Research Associate at the University of Maryland Physics Department in College Park, MD, and a consultant to the Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD, working on improving the accuracy of the Global Positioning System (GPS). 

 
North Atlantic Books is the publisher of Tom's 1993 book, "Dark Matter, Missing Planets and New Comets". A second edition was published in 1999. As with his research papers, the book is critical of many standard models in astronomy, such as the Oort Cloud, the Dirty Snowball, and the Big Bang theory. Tom also organizes the Eclipse Edge Expeditions to optimal solar eclipse viewing sites. 

During his career as a professional research astronomer, Tom has been honored by a prize from the Gravity Research Foundation; served on the Council of American Astronomical Society's Division on Dynamical Astronomy; taught astronomy at the University of South Florida and to Navy Department employees; been a consultant to NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab; and done several spots for the "Project Universe" series that continues to air occasionally on public TV.

From 1991 through 2002, a period of 11 years of contact, I have met with and spoken to extra-terrestrials, whom enrolled me in their mission to help save our Earth and our species from self-annihilation. They've begun their program to trigger our evolutionary process which was halted many ages ago by our sudden focus on the physical world at the expense of natural forces and energies with which we were once but are no longer in tune.  It is clear to me that the ET message is not for everyone...only he few will be initiated in it.  But we will all be affected by it.  Shepherd of the Pleiades has requested me to join with him and his mission elements (other contact people around the glove) to give notice.  We contactees are offered 11 years of close contact with ET's, and we are encouraged to tell our stories.  None of our stories will be much alike, yet all will be the same message from differing points of view.  Mine is but one story among many.  Mine is told in the published fashion, while some may remain untold.  and none of these contactees have ever met, nor will they ever believe one another's story.  It is a human failing to want to believe that one's own story is the truth, and all others are false.  That in itself is the special message of the dynamic behind social mass suicide and the dirk side of our inhumanity to man.  Let it bee the call to wake us up to something larger than ourselves, that wee may see our real selves one day among the stars, as fellow star-dwellers.
